Our Lord, the Exalted, says in Surah al-Qadr: ‘We revealed it (the Qur’ân) on the night of Laylat al-Qadr. Has anyone informed you what Laylat al-Qadr is? The night of Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. For on that night the angels and Jabrâ’îl descend to the earth with the permission of their Lord, taking orders about every matter. That night is peace until the rising of the sun.’ (Qadr 97/1-5.)

On this night, the pleasure of our Lord flows like fast falling rains. Our Qur’an, which saves humanity from the darkness of ignorance, was revealed on this night. It is better than a thousand months. Have you calculated a thousand months? That is exactly eighty-three years. May our Qadr be blessed.

Jibrîl-i Amîn and the angels also say âmin. Now they have descended to the earth, they are among us. We cannot hear their voices. However, when I was preaching in Adana, a retired frontline commander said: ‘Vallâhi Hodja, I could hear the angels that night. Allâh has servants with such open ears.

Angels come to watch the prayers, taraweehs, sermons and dhikr of the believers and envy them on this night.

Our Lord shows the angels the young and old believers running to the mosque and says: “You were saying that the son of Adam sheds blood” and declares that He is pleased with them. The angels said: ‘O Lord! The dhikr of the angels in the heavens is sweeter than the moaning of the believers saying ‘estağfirullâh’.

For this reason, tonight we will recite a lot of repentance, we will repent. Our sins will melt like snow, insha’Allah.

Yes, our Qur’ân came down tonight. But we do not know the value of the Qur’ân al-kerîm. Our children read newspapers, magazines, novels, but they do not know how to read the Qur’an. A house without the Qur’an is ruined.

The young ones will read the Qur’an at home. Then the house will be adorned. Angels will fill it. Our Qur’an is a very honorable book.

Our Prophet (saas) said: ‘The most honorable people of my Ummah are those who are the scribes of the Qur’an and those who get up at night to pray.’

Hâfiz are like the Qur’ân al-kerîm. If they do not corrupt themselves, their station is directly in Paradise-i âlâ. The position of a scribe will appear like the stars at the place of judgment. A crown of intercession will be placed on the head of the parents who make the Qur’ân al-kerîm read. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) will say, ‘Come on, intercede for my ummah, you are the parents of scribes’.

The Qur’ân is a book that gives spiritual pleasure every time it is read and never tires.

The Qur’ân is a divine order that will govern the world. Those who buried their children alive prostrated themselves before Him. It is because of our separation from Him that we are disgraced and miserable today.

May our Mawlana return us to our Qur’ân for the sake of this night! Amen.

Praise be to Allâh (swt), the Lord of the Worlds!
